For example, “That’s the spot!” Or, “just a little closer to my spine.” Or, “That seems to radiate up into my right eye.” Or, “A little deeper/lighter, please.” Most massage therapists are intuitive and attentive; I don’t know any mind-readers.
3) You expand the toolbox
Some techniques require (or are much more effective) with client participation, whether it’s mindful breathing, active movement, or muscle contraction.
4) You can see progress
Testing out how your arm moves or how your calves feel after a series of techniques can clarify whether the work is working (or not).
